The Grandmaster

4th Generation Grandmaster Norman Pedelahore

The Chief Instructor of the Lung Shou Pai System is Grandmaster Norman J. Pedelahore. His initial introduction and training in the Lung Shou Pai System are included in the "History of Lung Shou Pai".
Grandmaster Norman J. Pedelahore was recognized in 1973 by former President of the United States of America Richard M. Nixon, for his willingness to share his knowledge of the Martial Arts.
In 1974, Black Belt, the world's leading magazine of self defense, published a seven page article about Grandmaster Pedelahore. The article was entitled "He Dares To Be Different", and was based on Grandmaster Pedelahore's teaching methods and the philosophies of Lung Shou Pai. This method was a direct result of Grandmaster Ling's personal philosophy that "a person should not gauge his achievements with that of his peers, because everyone's inherent qualities may not show themselves in the same way, but may be as strong".
In 1976, Grandmaster Norman Pedelahore founded the Lung Shou Pai Wu Shu Association. It is the governing body that regulates and sets the standards of teaching, testing, and ranking for the Lung Shou Pai System.
In 1977, he was elected to High Board of National Governors of the Chinese/Korean Martial Arts League. In 1979, he was chosen to be the head Martial Arts Instructor for the Slidell Police Department. From 1980 to 1982, he served as President of the Slidell Police Athletic Club.
In 1980, he was appointed the Eastern United States Regional Director of the World Chinese Martial Arts Federation.
In1984, he was selected for inclusion in Who's Who In American Martial Arts. Grandmaster Pedelahore was selected from over forty thousand martial artists contacted by the Who's Who staff. According to the Managing Editor, Grandmaster Pedelahore was chosen "in recognition of his contributions and dedication to the martial arts".
Foremost among these contributions is the modernization of his style, the systematic method in which Lung Shou Pai is being taught, and the consolidation of all Lung Shou Pai schools and instructors under the Lung Shou Pai Wu Shu Association.
In 1985, Grandmaster Pedelahore founded a new chain of schools called International Martial Arts Studios. The I.M.A.S. was founded as a multi-style studio chain with two primary goals: the advancement and betterment of Martial Arts, and the unity of its members.
He also initiated a weekly workout class for black belts of all styles and systems who want to further their training and are open minded about Martial Arts.
Today, still living in Slidell, Louisiana, Grandmaster Pedelahore is semi-retired from teaching open classes, but continues to perpetuate his art by concentrating on working with his select Black Belt Instructors in order to carry on this very special art.
