Sifu Kevin Jordan

Sifu means Instructor in Chinese. Just like
karate students call their instructor "sensei"
(Japanese for instructor). Traditionally a Sifu
is either a third or fourth degree black sash

Kevin Jordan
Kevin Jordan was born in Hattiesburg, MS. He moved to New Orleans at a young age, and started martial arts training shortly after. Martial arts provided an effective means for him to be able to protect himself on the streets of East New Orleans.

Kevin started his training under Larry Haik. Larry Haik was a student of Grandmaster Norman Pedelahore for twelve years, as well as studying other styles of martial arts since he was 12 years old. Instructor Larry also introduced Kevin to the arts of jujitsu, kenpo, and tae kwon do. Kevin studied under Larry Haik for three years and received his 1st degree black belt. While studying under Larry Haik, Kevin also started fighting in the S.A.K.A. Kickboxing circuit (Southern Amateur Kickboxing Association).

After training with Larry for three years, Kevin decided to move on and start training under Instructor Larry's teacher, Grandmaster Pedelahore. Kevin will always keep the training and knowledge that he received from Instructor Larry, with him as a strong foundation.

Grandmaster Pedelahore took Kevin in as his own student and trained him souly in the art of Lung Shou Pai. Sifu Kevin would show up to train at 4:00 in the afternoon and train till around 10:00-10:30, Monday through Friday.

In December of 1997 Sifu Kevin tested for his 2nd Degree Black Belt/ Sash. The test was so rough that Kevin spent the night in the hospital getting his face stitched up. Kevin's face was split open while fighting multiple opponents, full contact.
Traditionally to test for black belt levels, a student fights one opponent as hard as they can, they fight all the way up to six opponents, then back down to one; this is after an all day test. Kevin got his face split open going back down to four opponents. Sifu Kevin has been training in Martial Arts mostly under the supervision of Grandmaster Pedelahore, and senior student Master Walter Gipson. He has dedicated his life to the perpetuation of his style, the martial arts, and the enrichment of other people.

In 1998, when Grandmaster Pedelahore semi-retired, he handed his own school over to Kevin, and the Grandmaster's great niece Brandi Segrave. The school was run and taught until Kevin had to relocate to Nashville, TN.

Sifu Kevin currently holds the rank of 3rd degree black belt/ sash. He has studied other arts along the side of Dragon Claw Kung Fu (Lung Shou Pai). He is also ranked in: Kenpo, Hapkido, Juijitsu, Tae Kwon Do, and American Karate.

Kevin has also toured around on the kickboxing circuit for the last two years. He has won and defended the U.S.A.K.A. Welter Weight Kickboxing Title Belt three times before retiring from the ring. He has also fought in several No Holds Barred Matches, and is currently undefeated.

Kevin has been ranked third nationally by the National Black Belt League in his weight division; and ranked first regionally by the Southern Louisiana Association of Martial Artists.

Kevin now resides in Nashville, TN. He was married on July 4, 1999 to Jennifer McMurry (now Jordan). Besides being a martial arts instructor, Kevin is also Chief Financial Officer for LA Weight Loss, Inc. Jennifer is a Nurse Practitioner.
